Do you find yourself after a good fast only feeling spiritual growth? You do what you think is right; however, you never get the results you seek. Well. There could be several reasons you’re not achieving what you’re seeking. When you fast and pray, it has to be done right. Now I bet you say… how do I fast and pray? There’s only one way? No… Fasting can be done in many forms. Still, to achieve the greatest potential, let’s go through a few steps.
Step One Keep Quiet
The Bible tells us to fast and pray and keep it to ourselves. Not expressing it to impress others or searching for sympathy or praise. Listen to what the Gospel reads:
Matthew 6:16 Moreover, when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Step Two Make a Vow
Make up your mind how long you plan to fast and pray, then make that vow to God. Please, never make a vow you’re not willing to keep. Most important … never believe that you can only pay a vow with money. There are numerous ways of vowing. Although if you don’t commit, it’s the same as … telling a lie to God.
Ecclesiastes 5: 4-5 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
Step Three It’s not Just Food
Fasting doesn’t always mean food. It has to be something you enjoy doing. Our human needs can manifest in all kinds of packaging. It very well could be … Sleeping, watching TV, searching the internet, cooking, even gambling. Yes. Anything that we love doing in the “Flesh”.
When you fast & pray, that’s father’s time. You’re making that flesh take a back seat to him, and this leaves room for wisdom. God looks forward to sharing his with us, which is where prayer comes in.
Prayer is your focal point. We pray as we speak. That’s why this is the best time to study the Bible. All of a sudden, God’s “Word” becomes natural to you. Even if you read one scripture a day, you would be surprised how much wisdom you’d achieve. Yes. Father God will speak as long as we listen. Only you … know how much time to spend with him.

Try these steps and get your breakthrough. Always know … There’s nothing too complicated for God. Keep in mind, he’s in control of all life blessings. Suppose you don’t receive what you seek. It may not be your season.
